What we achieved
In 2010 OpenFM broke new ground in so many ways. It came from a need to create a space that celebrates openness. What does this mean? We live in world that talks of white lies and lies that are needed. Rather than the real needs. To be honest. To be who you are. A placed where its okay to express this. A safe place.
Through blood, sweat and tears a new station was created because people realised that there was something more important than moaning about the situation they were in and rather did something about it. With a team of like-minded individuals a space was created to allow these voices be heard. A space that came from people being tired of hearing the same old thing. The fight was no more. The new way was to move forward and provide a common ground where both the straight and gay community can talk and share their thoughts. Working side by side to provide equality, justice and harmony.
For 30 days and many before, a new sound was heard on the Irish airwaves. A sound that resonated with truth and honesty. A play ground for many and a sounding board for others. We made it, because of people like you reading this article. People that care for a world were everyone is treated equal. Or just to inquire. Perhaps curious of something you dont know. Let there be another chance for OpenFM because we all know, more than ever we need some colour and gayness in our lives.
